Mayor and Town Council
Lovettsville’s governing body consists of six Town Council members and a Mayor who is elected directly by town citizens. Each Town Council member is elected to a four year term; the Mayor is elected every two years.
The Mayor and Town Council meet every fourth Thursday of the month for their regular meeting. They also meet in special work sessions to prepare for their regular monthly meeting. Their work sessions are typically held on the third Thursday of every month.
The Mayor and Town Council are responsible for setting the legislative policies of the Town. This includes approving an annual budget and capital improvements plan. They also consider land use requests such as rezonings and conditional use permits.
All meetings are held at the Town Hall (unless otherwise announced) at 8:00p.m. and are open to the public. The public is invited to speak at all regular meetings and special public hearings.
