Starting November 1, Lovettsville community residents can contribute non-perishable food stuffs at the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company fire station (located at 12837 Berlin Turnpike). A clearly marked weather-protected donation bin will be placed outside the entrance to the fire station Banquet Hall (the south side of the building). The donation bin will continue to be open for community drop off through December 31, 2020.
The donation bin is clearly marked, hands-free, socially distanced, and easy to access. Donated items will be recovered and processed for distribution regularly. Donations will directly benefit local community members experiencing a need during the upcoming holiday season. Items such as baby formula, diapers, and baby foods are deeply appreciated. The Fire & Rescue Company requests that no items requiring refrigeration, fresh foods prone to spoil quickly, previously opened packaging, or items past sale date expiration be donated. Any medicines or remedies are also discouraged.
Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company has supported the food drive annually and most notably with the Pancake Breakfast with Santa in December. In an abundance of caution for the safety and welfare of the public health during the pandemic, the Pancake Breakfast with Santa is postponed.
