PUBLIC NOTIFICATION
AMENDMENT TO TOWN CODE SECTION 2.1
TO ALIGN WITH VIRGINIA CODE 24.2-310 SECTION (A)
THAT LOUDOUN COUNTY IS TO ESTABLISH THE POLLING PLACE LOCATION FOR NOVEMBER ELECTIONS

The LOVETTSVILLE TOWN COUNCIL is to consider an ordinance at their regular business meeting on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 6:30pm in the Town Council Chamber, 6 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Lovettsville, Virginia, to amend Town Code Section 2.1 by adding a section, to be numbered 5, which reads: The Town shall use the polling places established by Loudoun County for all November elections pursuant to Virginia Code section 24.2-310(A).

This amendment to the Town Code is under consideration as a result of the Loudoun County General Registrar’s recent notification that the polling place for the upcoming November 2023 General Election is to be held at the Lovettsville Community Center.  In March 2020, the polling place was relocated to the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire-Rescue Station due to the construction of the Community Center. As a town with November elections and pursuant to Virginia Code section 24.2-310(A), Loudoun County is to establish the polling place.

This administrative amendment to the Town Code does not require a public hearing, but all people desiring to speak will be given an opportunity to do so at this meeting.  Written copies of statements are requested, but not required.  Written comments can be submitted to [email protected] by 3:00pm on the day of the meeting.
