Flag Day and Flag Retirement Ceremony
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson designated June 14th as Flag Day in the United States. In Lovettsville, we are blessed to have active Scouting and Service Organizations who continue to celebrate the stars and stripes and educate the public on the proper way to retire the American Flag.
If anyone has an American Flag that is no longer in condition to display, local service and scouting organizations will be holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Samuel A. Finz Municipal Complex this Flag Day, Sunday, June 14, at 6:30PM in front of Town Hall, and they would be happy to properly and respectfully retire your flag for you.
If you have flags that need to be retired, they can be dropped off at Town Hall Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4:30PM year-round for proper retirement at our annual Flag Retirement Ceremony.
The Town of Lovettsville would like to thank Cub Scout Pack 962 - Lovettsville's Arrow of Light Girls Den and local area Scouts for leading this year's Retirement Ceremony.
