Lovettsville’s Southern Gateway Land Use Study The southern entrance to our town — the "Southern Gateway Planning Area"— is poised for change. As a community, we took the opportunity to guide this development and ensure it aligns with the core values that make Lovettsville special. Your participation provided the framework of assets, issues, threats and opportunities that will help select a development pattern that best serves our shared interests. Thank you to everyone who participated in our process.
The Planning Commission will be presenting its report to the Town Council on May 28, 2026. The chosen land use strategy for the Southern Gateway has important implications for the whole Town and an update of the Town Comprehensive Plan has to be considered in light of the potential development scenarios of the Southern Gateway area. Consequently, the Commission plans to use the land use scenarios and other recommendations of the Southern Gateway study as a basis for a larger review of land use throughout the Town.
