Lovettsville has been a thriving small community since it was originally settled by German immigrants in the 1730s. Today, Lovettsville is known for its small town character, as it blends centuries of history with an exciting future.

2016 Arbor Day Ceremony and Tree Dedication - Friday, April 29 at 3PM                             Lovettsville Town Center Common Area 

Please join us for our annual Arbor Day Ceremony this Friday at 3PM.  We will be planting two Black Gum trees on the Lovettsville Town Center Common Area, directly across from 2C South Church Street.


Town Manager's FY 2017 Budget and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Options & Recommendations and Meeting Schedule (March - June 2016):

The Town Manager presented his FY 2017 Budget and CIP Options & Recommendations to the Town Council on March 10, 2016.  The Town Council will be holding numerous meetings over the next several months to receive public input and deliberate on the Budget and CIP options.  All meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.  The proposed meeting schedule is shown below.  All meetings will be held at 7:30PM.  For any questions about the budget or budget process, please call Town Hall at 540-822-5788.    

*March 10 (Regular Meeting) - Town Manager presents Budget and CIP Options and Recommendations.

*March 31 (Special Meeting)- Citizen input on Budget; Council deliberation on Budget and CIP Options.

*April 7 (Special Meeting) - Council deliberation on Taxes/Fees and Program Budget

*April 14 (Regular Meeting) - Council deliberation on Water & Sewer Rates and CIP

*Cancelled!!!- April 18 (Special Meeting - Cancelled) - Council deliberation on Program Budget, CIP, Taxes/Fees, and Water & Sewer Rates.

*April 21 (Special Meeting) - Council deliberation on Program Budget, CIP, Taxes/Fees, and Water & Sewer Rates.

*April 25 (Special Meeting - As Needed) - Council deliberation on Budget, CIP, Taxes/Fees and Water & Sewer Rates.

*April 28 (Regular Meeting) - Council decision on Budget and CIP Option; Approve Resolution for Not to Exceed Tax Rate/Fees; Begin Refinement of Budget and CIP Option Selected without changing agreed upon Tax and Fee rates (if needed).

*June 9 (Regular Meeting and Public Hearing if Taxes are Increased) - Adoption: Budget and CIP (if not adopted at June 2 meeting) or Public Hearing held.

*June 16 (Special Meeting) - Adoption: Budget and CIP (if not adopted on June 9).

*June 23 (Regular Meeting) - Adoption: Budget and CIP (if not adopted on June 16.  Latest date to adopt Budget during Regular Meeting.

*June 30 (Last Day of Fiscal Year) - Latest Date to Adopt Budget During a Special Meeting. 

 

Conditional Use Permit for a New 7-Eleven Convenience Store with Fuel Sales
The Town of Lovettsville has received an application from 7-Eleven, Inc. for approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow the establishment of new convenience store with retail fuel sales, including fuel canopy, pumps and underground storage tanks on their property located at 1 East Broad Way within the C-2 Mixed Use Business District.  The proposed use is considered a convenience store with fuel sales, which is listed as a conditional use in the C-2 District pursuant to Section 42-259(c)(2) of the Zoning Ordinance.  

The Lovettsville Planning Commission conducted its public hearing on this application at the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire Department on March 16, 2016 but did not take action at that time.  The Commission will take up the application next, to potentially include a decision whether to recommend approval or denial of the conditional use permit, at their regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 20, 2016  at 7:30 pm at the Town Office.  As always, persons interested is this application are encouraged to attend and express their views.
